“We recently had work done on our Hornby Island home and engaged the services of CabinLand Contracting. My initial discussion with Ben Marsh gave me a great deal of comfort, as he was knowledgeable and trusting, as well as seeming most trustworthy.
The job was a particularly unpleasant task, involving installing a significant amount of insulation under our home in a large crawl space area, with virtually no room to move or breathe. Also, sealing the area with plywood, meticulously cut, to ensure the area was rodent proof. Arduous and challenging!
The CabinLand crew of Sidney, Ali, Alice and Liam arrived promptly each of the 4 days of the job, worked hard and efficiently and not once did not have smiles on their faces. “We met Ben in our neighbourhood and when we found out his company did construction, we asked him about doing a second story deck on the front of our home. He gave us a very detailed explanation of what to expect and a realistic estimate. As soon as he started working we realized we really were getting bang for our buck.
He and his crew really care about the structure and appearance of their work. He asked us questions along the way to make sure all our preference in form and style were met. He offered suggestions on design and material, providing options and leaving the decision up to us.
As the deck progressed we asked about possibly upgrading our windows and siding. He never pressured us or tried to upsell us, and again provided realistic estimates and timeframes on what the work would look like. He did his best to find good prices on quality materials, and we are more than happy with the result. All of his crew were friendly, happy to chat, and hardworking. We ended up having them do more work, tearing down an old shack and creating a beautiful garbage and recycling structure, and adding a gate to access the back yard.
Ben loves to chat and will gladly take the time to explain how an idea might work, and offer solutions or alternatives if there are issues with an idea. He is knowledgeable in all aspects of carpentry and ensured our deck met building code and was permitted correctly.”
